Diesel car bad starter in the morning
Diesel car bad starter in the morning - what is the common reason for a Diesel to be a bad starter in morning - other wise car runs great no smoke quite runner ..V Vectra 2.0 DI gls 1998Hi there,
It sounds very much like faulty or failed Glow Plugs - They're normally changed at around 50,000 miles intervals - can on longer and sometimes need cleaning up in cars doing short journeys (they get fouled up with soot from unburnt fuel)...
It could be other things - Fuel pump - dirty or blocked fuel filter - or a sensor that's playing up... I would plumb for Glow Plugs though.
If you've had these changed recently however - You may need to get the car put on a Fault Code Reader... details of the fault are stored in the ECU and the FCR interrogates it - it can diagnose and then reset the ECU afterwards... Most good garages have got an FCR these days and should be able to give you a price for using it on your car.
You can get Glow Plugs at great prices from A1 Motor Stores - they also sell some excellent Fuel System Treatments that can clean up internally sooty engines.
I hope this has helped.... Good luck.
Regards
Bill
